21. Clean out your closet
Find a consignment store in your neighborhood or online and sell clothes you want to get rid of. Some stores will pay in store credit and others in cash. There might be restrictions on brands and the quality of the clothes.
22. Trade in programs
Amazon has a trade in program for books, movies, and music. You will get an Amazon gift card for any items accepted. There are places online to trade in unused gift cards. Some bookstores will buy your books and music from you.
23. Raise animals to sell
Chickens, dogs, ducks, cats, rabbits, and birds all come to mind. You can have your own 4h program in your backyard
24. Sell extra produce
If you have a garden or some fruit trees you can easily sell the extra produce, especially if you have a farmer’s market in the area or you can always advertise on Craigslist.
25. Become a personal trainer
Do you like to exercise and help other people get fit? Why not check into the certifications to become a personal trainer?
26. Teach something
You can set up classes in your home for a variety of topics. Check into the local community college on the costs and what else is involved in teaching a non-credit class for a couple of weeks. Can you find a way to teach a class online?
27. Start taking pictures and improving your photography skills
You can earn some extra dough by charging for family pictures of friends and neighbors if you have a decent camera and some basic photo editing knowledge.
28. Set up a roadside stand
Make gift baskets around the holidays and set up a roadside stand. I guarantee you will do better than you did on the lemonade stand you had when you were a kid.
29. Check out help wanted ads in the paper or online
Help wanted ads are another way to find ideas about a service you can provide for someone or a side gig you can do.
30. Barter
Well, this is not exactly bringing in more income, but it is a way to lessen your expenses. My cousin was able receive a free membership to a yoga studio in exchange for passing out flyers once a week. She contacted the studio and offered the idea; it totally worked!
31. Drive to earn money.
Do you like to drive and know your city well? You can drive a taxi cab on the side for extra money. Uber and Lyft are more options to earn cash driving. Please check all the necessary requirements and make sure you have enough insurance.
32. Raise your prices.
Once you gain a lot of customers by providing a service, product or are growing your side business and the workload is almost more than you can handle, this is the time to raise your rates. Your service/product is in high demand and you are working like a maniac. You may see some clients drop off, but those who remain will be giving you more money because and your services just became more elite.
33. Turn your hobby into income.
What is your hobby? Are there ways to turn your hobby into an income stream? You probably already have the supplies on hand so it will not cost too much to get started. Make sure to include a fee for your time in addition to the cost of your supplies.
34. Find a job no one wants to do.
Not only will your competition be almost non-existent, but some of those jobs will pay a lot more since those willing to work in that field are rare. Think of the Dirtiest Jobs show, any ideas you can do?
35. Improve your work ethic and level of service.
We all pay more for high quality service especially to someone who is trustworthy, honest, hard working, grateful and provides excellent customer service.
Why not become the best at what you do and treat your customers extremely well? You will keep your current customers coming back and word will spread about your service/product. Your customers will win and you will too.
You can even double your income.
Yes, it is possible, with enough hard work and diligence to cut unnecessary expenses.
Personally, I have been able to double my income in the last seven years mainly by obtaining professional certifications, working overtime, and following a budget. At times, I have sold some things on Craigslist or consignment and had the occasional side gig. I’ve also started a blog.
The extra income over the last several years has certainly helped me obtain some big financial goals: including becoming debt free and paying cash for my husband’s education.
Are you tired of not making any progress financially, because your income has not changed much recently? Well, it is time for you to take your raises into your own hands and do something on the side to bring in more income.
Please remember for any additional income you bring in, you will have to report it and pay taxes on the money. Also, check into any necessary requirements prior to starting (licenses, permits, certifications, insurance, risks, and costs) and fund your new venture with cash. Going into debt to earn extra money is self-defeating and will not give you the results you need.
