I was nominated for the Liebster Award by both Debbie from http://debbieinshape.com/” target=”_blank”>Debbie In Shape and Kathleen fromhttp://60–thenew40.com/” target=”_blank”> Lifestyle Building Blocks this week. I am honored that these ladies wanted to nominate me, especially since both live outside the US, which is super cool.
The Liebster award is given to new bloggers to help welcome them to the world of blogging and Lorriane gives a http://wordingwell.com/the–liebster–award–the–official–rules–my–first–blog–award–and–a–few–personal–secrets–revealed/” target=”_blank”>thorough explanation of the Award if you want to know more.
There are several questions to be answered, so let’s get started.
- How did you decide on the name of your blog?
Cook With a Shoe first came about as an inside joke between my husband and I. Since I started cooking everything from scratch, my husband would wonder what exactly I was cooking and claimed I was throwing old shoes into the pot for flavor.
When I started this blog about personal finance, I wanted a name that would encompass who I am, be memorable, and tie in the idea of living on a budget. I am someone who loves to cook and who chooses to continue to live on a shoestring budget even after becoming debt free, while putting her hubby through school.
- Where does your blogging inspiration come from?
My inspiration comes from my experience years of living on a budget, getting out of debt, and remaining debt free. I also find inspiration everywhere since money affects everything, financial struggles other people are having, and questions my readers share with me about living on a budget.
- What is it that you love most about blogging?
I have been enjoying the new friendships of other bloggers I have met. One thing I did not expect, but I am so humbled to hear how my story is impacting those who are reading my blog and causes them to reevaluate their budget and spending habits.
- What is your favorite food?
My current favorite is http://www.dyno–mom.com/2014/03/curried–lentils–on–cheap.html” target=”_blank”>Curried Lentils. However, I do love anything homemade and cooked from scratch.
- What is your favorite thing to drink (alcoholic or not)?
I drink a lot of herbal teas and I do like a good bulletproof coffee.
- What is an item you cannot live without?
My bible is one thing I cannot live without. I find so much wisdom. comfort, and help to live this life in the Bible.
- What are eleven random facts about yourself?
I just wrote https://www.cookwithashoe.com/general/33–random–facts/“>33 random facts about me here, but let me see if I can come up with some more.

If I could live anywhere, I would still choose Arizona, but would just live on a hobby farm. I am an Arizona girl all the way through.

I love your goal to purchase a house in cash because most people don’t think like that but it’s a possible action and that’s why I believe your mindset helps you remain debt free 🙂 Thanks so much for nominating me for the Liebster award, it means a lot!
Since I already posted 11 things about myself in a past post, I answered all your questions below 🙂
1. How Did You Decide on the Name of Your Blog? When you have that moment in your life when you realize that debt is a problem and you need to get your finances together, I call it a debt epiphany. I felt like everyone could relate to that in one way or another and I wanted to share my journey
2. Where does your blogging inspiration come from? It mostly comes from my everyday life. I do brainstorm specific personal finance topics that I’d like to cover but my best posts are usually based off ideas that just come to me or a recent experience.
3. What is it that you love most about blogging? I love being able to share my story and my journey during this very important time in my life. I like to offer readers a solution through my life experiences and I love having a little corner of the internet to control all by myself 🙂
4. What is your favorite food? Seafood!
5. What is your favorite thing to drink (alcoholic or not)? Lemonade
6. What is an item you cannot live without? I think as long as I have my loved ones and food I’ll live 🙂
7. What are eleven random facts about yourself? You can see all of them here: http://www.mydebtepiphany.com/liebster-award-nomination/
8. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? I would love to live in Europe but I love the freedom and standard of living we have in the U.S. so I’d live in California if I had to stay here
9. If you could meet anyone from history, alive or dead, who would it be? Maya Angelou
10. What is your favorite outdoor activity? I love to play basketball, grill out, and play with my son at the park.
11. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? I’ll only be 27 in 5 years so I don’t expect to meet all my life goals by then but I’d like to be debt free, married, having a better work-life balance, traveling more, and on my way to owning a home

Chonce, It was great to get to know you a bit more, thanks for sharing! Your five year goals are awesome, and I am sure you can become debt free within that time. I am super excited to be watching you get out of debt! I appreciate the kind words. If my husband and I both work once he graduates, while living on less than one income, it will be pretty easy to save up a lot of money very quickly. We shall see if we can buy a house for cash.
