My 3 month emergency fund has hovered at or close to a little more than $1,000... for years.
Not exactly close to 3 months of expenses.
And my car fund has been growing and vanishing for at least 5 years. I’m still rattling around in a 2003 Mazda with 308k miles.
It’s frustrating to make such slow progress towards these money goals.
To feel like the closer you get, the further away they are.
But that’s not the full story
In the same period of time, I paid cash for my hubby’s entire education. We’ve been debt free since March 17, 2010.
Waves of unexpected expenses and life setbacks have derailed the budget at times, yet I’m still standing.
21 Days to Build a Habit, 90 Days to Change Your Life
Every time I was able to muster up the courage to lunge forward with my finances and to crush a money goal,
it was because I became so frustrated at being stuck in my finances.
Couldn’t take it any longer. Something had to change.
Like the time I took on a part time job to help me save more for school.
A few weeks ago, I joined Rachel Hollis’ #Last90Days challenge to build daily habits in the last 90 days of the year in order to change your life.
One of the new habits I’m in the process of creating is to be better organized with my business finances.
I’ve dialed in my personal finances, but I’ve struggled with setting up a workable system that I can stick to for my business.
The wheels started turning as I set aside 15 minutes each day to focus on improving my business finances.
What if WE did a #Last90DaysMoneyGoals challenge?
I’m guessing you might be feeling stuck in your finances, just as I am with my emergency fund and car fund.
What if we took the last 90 days of the year to put intense focus on one area of our individual finances.
- Something that will move the needle
- set up good habits
- so that we can change our finances
- reach our money goals
- and transform our lives?

Don’t you dare quit
Oh and one more thing, if you miss a day or two or three. Do not quit!
This is building a life changing habit and will transform your finances if you stick with it and persevere.
When it gets hard, ask yourself why?
How much do you want to break up the log jam of stuck finances? Are you willing to stick with it and do what it takes?
You’re making a promise to yourself and it’s high time you keep it. Don’t keep promises to everyone else and break them to yourself. No more!
