Best Tips to Successfully Sell on Etsy
3. Know Where to Buy
Save time and money with my best-selling resources in Complete Change Your Finances Bundle.
We regularly visit garage sales, estate sales, flea markets, thrift stores and auctions to find vintage and antique items.
We even go to other cities and states to find interesting items for our shop to make it more unique.
We keep track of where we purchase the items for the shop to save time. If we spend four hours visiting garage sales we might find 10 items. However, if we spend four hours at an auction, we might purchase 100 items.
The better investment is an auction if it’s the right type of auction.
The following gives you an idea of the profit (ROI) that we make at each venue where we purchase items.
- Auctions 680% ($1 spent = $6.80 profit)
- Garage sales 642% ($1 spent = $6.42 profit)
- Thrift stores 401% ($1 spent = $4.01 profit)
- Estate sales 397% ($1 spent = $3.97 profit)
- Flea markets 274% ($1 spent = $2.74 profit)
Auctions have the greatest profit potential if you do your research and don’t overspend (keep that auction paddle down if it goes over your budgeted amount). Flea markets have the lowest profit, but it is still a good profit so we continue to visit flea markets.
4. Sell at a Fair Price
We do the research to find out what other sellers are asking for the same or similar items to the one we are selling. Keep in mind that condition affects price. The value of an item is what someone is willing to pay.
If something isn’t selling we revisit our listing to check the price as well as the title, description and keywords to find out why. We stay on top of the market as much as possible.
If vanity trays are in style, we try to find vanity trays to drive traffic to our site, but we must also price them fairly to create a pleasant buying experience for our customers.
5. Provide Excellent Customer Service
Excellent customer service equates to repeat customers as well as obtaining new customers.
We strive to get 5 star reviews by answering convos (emails and conversations on Etsy) as soon as possible, but not longer than a couple of hours (mobile Etsy app makes this possible).
We also ship out items the same day they are purchased whenever possible and insert a thank you coupon in the receipt to encourage return visits and to thank buyers for their purchase.

So, is it worth it?
We would definitely say yes. If our growth continues as planned, soon we will be making 6 figures every year without any additional effort. Of course, we anticipate adding income streams so this growth should happen soon.
How exciting – no boss, flexible hours, work from home and making money doing what I love. What more could I ask for?
What more could you ask for?
Everyone’s reasons and ability to make extra income is a little different so do the research to find the best option for you. If Etsy isn’t right for you, explore other options. The key is to find what works for you and your family.
I wish you luck in Making Your Life More Lovely by working from home!
