1. Find your why
Your why is your reason for budgeting.
Once you know your why, sticking to a budget becomes so. much. easier!!
And you know what? I didn’t find my why until after I had been budgeting for years and after I became completely debt free. Go figure, huh?
So what’s my why? I wanted to see my husband graduate from school completely debt free with no student loans to pay back.
Once I realized why I was budgeting, there was so much more hope and motivation to stick to a budget!!
How do you find your why?
In order to find your why, start by asking yourself a few questions…
- What would you do if money is no object?
- What do you dream about?
- How you would like to provide for your family?
- What would you spend money on if you had no debt?
- Where would you travel?
- What would your life look like with no money stress?
Having a why for budgeting
- Brings a purpose for your money
- Gives motivation to budget
- Reveals the larger picture
- Makes sticking to a budget easier
