For years, I thought that there was nothing that could be done to save money on utilities.
But when expenses creep up and the margin of savings starts to dwindle, I’d start to take drastic measures to find ways to increase my savings ratio:
Tightening up and looking for holes in my budget
Researching new ways to cut back expenses
And going through my house with a keen eye, on the lookout for anything of value that I can sell.

The stress of living paycheck to paycheck, a memory from when I was at the grocery store, wondering if I had enough money to pay for food, comes back with the same tightness in my chest preventing me from taking a full breath.
Part of that is because I used to have a lot of fear about money while I put my hubby through school. But it's also hard to stay focused on your money goals when you don’t seem to be making much traction.
When I was desperate to make ends meet, I found a simple way to cut the cost of my electric bill. And it didn’t require a set up fee or any other expenses.
Which means ongoing monthly savings that I could apply to my current money goal.
It’s a log breaking loose in the log-jam of being stuck with your money… the shift that happens to make all the other places you’re stuck to start breaking up.
An easy way the woman of the house can create ongoing savings with a simple trick to reduce your electric bill
Summary
Cut the costs of your electric bill
I keep the AC set at a higher temperature during the summer days, 82’, and we use fans to help stay cool. In the winter, the temperature is kept a little chilly, 64’ and we pile on the sweaters first.
Doing just this one thing, I’m able to save at least $17 or more a month, which comes out to $200/a year.
Even though my hubby claims he has to survive winter wife, he bundles up and follows my desire to reduce our expenses as much as possible.
NOTE: It may take a couple months to start to see savings on your bill... but once you do, be intentional about where the savings goes.
Savings will vary based on where you live and other factors.
