I started hustling out of necessity. Money was so tight at the beginning, between a low income, debt, and paying for school, that I had to hustle just to make ends meet.
I continued hustling out of love. I wanted to give my husband a gift of zero student loans upon graduation.
The hustle increased again and again. I was completely worn out, but felt as though I had no choice except continue in this manner.
And I did. For several years.
Overwhelmed, exhausted, worried, and stressed, I didn’t like who I had become. My health suffered and my joy was gone.
There were many who said I was the hardest worker they knew, but no one told me that it was ok to stop hustling.
To take a break and rest. To take care of myself for once.
When I accepted the fact that I could not continue in the way that I had been and that I needed rest, yes, it was only then many agreed with me. Their previous silence only made me feel isolated.
Is it time for you to rest?
